Drop your triple chain ring!!! Yep, time to add another 38 mm of clearance (1.5 inches) and make Moab a better place to ride...
The triple chainring in mountain biking is totally unnecessary. Think about how many times you've used it? Last week, I went for a ride with a friend and we talked about this. The only time he uses it is on flat descents, but he doesn't pedal. This sounds like an unnecessary habit to me... Hmmm...
Removing the top chainring would give my friend some extra clearance for going over logs, rocks and also on deep compressions when hitting those massive drops. What's more, by adding a bashgaurd, a rider can protect his/her bottom bracket.

I guess the question you have to ask is what kind of riding are you doing? Free ride, lose the big ring. Going fast and ripping non stop, lose the granny ring!
Just my two cents. But coasting? Come on! Pedal or just get a dirt bike, braaaaaap!
