Interested In Raw Power? The Yamaha EF1000iS Generator

24 Hours Of Old Pueblo, 24 Hours Of Moab, The Dawn Til Dusk Race in Gallup, NM, 12 Hours Of Mesa Verde, well, just about any 12-24 or multi-hour race might require you power for those that you love, or the cool devices we bring to make camping a little easier. Enter a gas generator! Grrr....

The Yamaha EF1000iS is a powerful little unit with a lot of cool bells and whistles. To start, the Yamaha Inverter System, which is a fancy way to say that it won't blow out your stuff, delivers pure sine wave. No, you don't need to look that up, because I did... It means that the energy is pure, stable. Plug in your laptop, ipad, DroidX and you'll be fine! The little blue buddy by Yamaha also can run for about 12 hours at constant RPM's. It has this low-power option, so it cycles down automatically when it needs to. Finally, the dang thing weighs about 20 pounds (perhaps a big much, but doesn't feel like it). It is smaller than any carry-on luggage you would take to an airport. For those of you into Miller Time, think about a 12 pack and you're about right on the actual dimensions.

I've been using the Yamaha on a road-gypsy trip and the thing is great! Not one bit of maintenance so far, but it has been with me for a short while. That said, if you can take care of a lawn mower, then you can handle this. Change the spark plugs every 6 months, watch the oil, fill the tank, bang clean the air filter - DONE! BUT THE BEST PART IS HOW QUIET THIS THING REALLY IS! If you watch any youtube videos, you'll think: gee, that sounds kind of loud. NO WAY! It really is crazy how quiet this thing is... I feel like I could crank it up in my house and my dog would be the only one picking up on the generator... OK, so if you're interested then you might want to buy one here on Amazon.com - they are going for about $50 less than what I paid for it...
