The Importance Of Role Models

What is the difference between a hero and a role model? Remember? A hero is someone you can never be. A role model is someone you can be. Heroes fly through the air, are unrealistic and not really like us. Role models put their pants on one leg at a time and actually talk with us. They are like us. Role models help us learn, grow, prosper, analyze and change, when we are doing something stupid!




I started thinking of role models when I stumbled on Fred Wilson's blog post about them. In this post, he goes into his observations about young entrepreneurs and the need for older, serial investors to provide mentorship at the highest level. In other words, it is all about who is behind you and helping you grow...
