Shimano, just like every other brand, is looking at how to capitalize on the growing Freeride and DH scene. It seems like so many XC racers and riders are thinking bigger travel and bigger hits now, and the other accessories are catching up! The Shimano SH-AM45 is just about everything a rider could want - SPD (cleats), ankle protection, stiffness and style! I just ordered a pair and I'm stoked. You see, the new thinking here is walking... Or what we Freeriders like to call "pushing your bike". There are many times when this has to happen, so why not be comfortable. I think the plastic "racer-type" shoe is going to go the way of the dinosaur very soon...
